If pornography is the largest business on the Internet and in video stores, then that demonstrates that many of us want it and no one should forbid our desires. Laws against it are antiquated religious hypocrisy that only give power to politicians and law enforcement personnel to abuse. We allow these laws to persist because of religious guilt programmed into us from birth. Notions of sexual pervision are purely political. DAs and vice squads use these laws to control our personal behavior, and have too much power over our sexual lives. Vice squads should be eliminated because they are only used to enforce someone elses' hypocritical morality and force others to live in fear of expressing themselves. They are a form of social control that is incompatible with a free society. DAs have too much political power in deciding whom and how to prosecute.

Obscenity is in the Mind, Beholder!

What's obscene to you? Sex. porn, violence, cusswords? Anything can be obscene to some people. Because it's subjective there can't be a standard definition. It's obscene to try to define it in law. It's one of those areas of life where the law doesn't belong. If you find something obscene you have the individual responsibility to avoid it. But the law is there because some people are offended and the lawmakers find it useful to whip up emotion and manipulate people to keep or increase their power. If anything is obscene to me, it's violence, war and hurting people, but that seems to be a minority opinion.

The standard applied by the courts in defining obscenity is if a work fails the test of "redeeming social importance" in a fictitious local community. That was always bullshit. The Internet and other modern communication that have made the world one community, has done away with that vague standard. We are world citizens now, and there is no one standard that can apply to obscenity other than that of the individual. Censor yourself if you must, but don't expect the government to do it for you unless you wish to give up more rights. And if you want to protect your children, you have the responsibility to censor them, not other adults. You have no right to decide that issue for others. If you don't like it, don't participate in it. No one is forcing you. Censorship is the ultimate obscenity. Intent to censor should be a capital crime.

There is no proof that pornography is harmful to children or to anyone - and there have been many studies. There is a far better case for violent films being harmful than sexual ones. And we perpetuate a psychopathological sexual shame and ignorance upon ourselves and our children.

Why should you worry so much about your children being exposed to sex? There's still no proof that knowledge of sexuality is harmful to children. Religious prohibitions are mostly bullshit. Only prejudice, superstition and ignorance reign. Sex isn't an exclusively adult condition. You only have to look at earlier societies where the family lived in one space and parents had sex alongside their children. Those children weren't harmed. They learned a far healthier sexual attitude than we. At puberty, they were expected to be sexually active. This has been the human condition throughout our existence until relatively recently. How soon we've forgotten this to the detriment of us all. Your fear of sex is a psychopathology that is far more dangerous than sexual knowledge.

Witholding sexual information from children should be deemed child abuse. After puberty, children should be taught sex by responsible adults, perhaps even licensed sex instructors. Beyond raw, fumbling fucking, sex does not come naturally. As in every skill, there must be learning of theory and practice. They need to learn by loving experience.

Sexual Pathology

Why must we want to overcontrol sexuality? We're ignorant and afraid of it. The US is one of the most sexually ignorant nations on earth.

All laws regulating sexuality, including prostitution, and its depiction (porn) are of a religious and political nature and are incompatible with a secular, free society and should be deemed unconstitutional.

If we legalize sex, drugs, abortion and freedom the religious are so afraid that the fire of Sodom will rain down upon us in an all-consuming apocalypse, but I can assure you that nothing bad will happen. Their's is a hellish delusion born of evil. It is time to step out of the fire and misery that fear and hatred have made of life and into joy.

I want to live in a society wherein public nudity and sex is acceptable and sexuality is no longer considered a private affair. Only then will we have achieved health. To achieve that condition much that we hold sacred and taboo will have to die.

Why do tyrannical regimes control sex? It might seem that such regimes would allow or even promote sexual freedom as a relief valve or distraction for the people against repression. But most authoritarian regimes don't control sex because of religious, moral values, although they may use those convenient existing moralisms to manipulate the people, but to channel those energies into control of the physical body and then into the family. It makes social control greater.

Homosexuality can't be cured because it's not a disease - what ain't broke can't be fixed - but homophobia and other similar bigotries that arise from fear and paranoid anger that cause bullying and harassing behaviors are pathologies that can be cured or at least controlled. A healthy society will not permit such pathologies and must quarantine or cure its victims as it would for any contagious disease.

There is no conclusive scientific evidence that humans are inherently monogamous. Most evidence points the other way, yet our religions force monogamous practices on us. In a patriarchal world of male lineage monogamy is a way of enforcing a determination of ownership of children and preserving family lines. Only a mother can know who is her child. Until the advent of DNA testing a man could not know if he was a father of a particular child. But why are family lines important anyway? Most of the beliefs regarding biological family ties are myths that have no relation to scientific knowledge. Biological kinship does not make for emotional relationships, otherwise marriage, outside the biological family, would not be possible.
